In the waning hours of a Blue Moon...

I finally took the plunge and started a blog. The festival season is here, with Harmony and Sierra Nevada coming up, Kate Wolf, Oregon Country Fair, Reggae, Burning Man, and Earthdance to name a few. Reggae is my favorite. To say it's a big deal for folks around here might be a bit of an understatement. That's why I wanted to share some thoughts, create a forum for comments, and hopefully provide some helpful information so we can all have a great time.

I doubt you'll get much traffic, but only becomes most blog commentors are by their nature anonymous nobodies.

Well, you need to post something of substance. Then you'll get some traffic.

I agree, what kind of community would you like to form at this year's event? How can we make it better than last year? How should we react to the drug sales?
I think the sheriff has a right to boot the blatant sales on the sides of the roads. I think the fest has gone in a different direction than it was in the past from what I have heard. I think last year's Sierra Nevada is a good model, but it had much fewer attendees. Any reports from this year?
It seems like the irie vibes turned to more coke, meth and ecstasy, especially with the dome, along with the other hallucinogens. Is it time for a break from the drug fueled party? I think so. I am the only one who thinks this, but if they eliminated the late night dome and the drug sales the fest would be more family friendly, community friendly and county supervisor friendly.

Also, if you don't allow anon comments most poeple won't bother making an account to post, but I have entirely too much time on my hands while in between jobs.

Sierra Nevada was great music, great vibes, children playing, a musical and spiritual success. Warren Smith, the producer, was heard to say, "Yeah, we did a pretty good of not getting in the way of the vibe".

Wow, a promotor with humility, how refreshing.
